Our Philosophy

In the process of fulfilling our mission statement and setting the stage for accomplishing our vision, we have certain steps which are a part of our strategic plan.  This plan requires the institution to reach the following goals.

⦁     Offer coursework in both a nontraditional and a traditional format, both on our campus and through correspondences, that allows students to learn from both professors and other students through a format that is based on a Christian worldview.  This diversity in learning formats challenges the intellect, involves new understandings, is highly rewarding to the individual and results in a commitment to excellence in positive, Christian activities.

⦁    Achieve excellence in everything we do.

⦁    Provide the opportunity for experimentation in what constitutes learning, how people learn effectively, how the internet can be used effectively in learning and dialogue about the future of Christian Higher education.

⦁    Offer learning experiences that encourage the mature Christian individual who has goals and priorities as well as the courage to act upon them.

⦁    Initially provide learning experiences in the fields of human development, organizational (for profit and not-for-profit) management and Christian ministries.

⦁    Serve our community in specific ways that will enrich the lives of the people therein.

Our History

In 1999, Rovear Christian University began as a satellite college of International Apostolic College of Grace and Truth and became accredited through the Accrediting Commission International, Inc.

⦁    The first school location was at the Mid-Cities Civic Center, Chesterfield, VA

⦁    Due to the increase of students, the school was then housed at the Bellwood Baptist Church, Chester, VA

⦁    As Rovear continued to move forward, a building in Petersburg, VA was purchased in 2003, which is still the current school location; 1728 Young’s Road, Petersburg, VA since 2003.

⦁    The first commencement ceremony was held in May 2003

⦁    In 2007 the addition of “The Miracle Building”, added more classrooms

⦁    Since relocating to Petersburg, VA, Rovear’s enrollment increased, the number of instructors increased, and the degree programs have expanded both internally and externally
